For more than 15 years, the responsibility of serving top-notch food to both local and international guests in Barrydale rested on the shoulders of beloved chef Derek Lowe.
Derek’s deep knowledge of the Klein Karoo and its people was also a deciding factor when Rick and Sue Melvill purchased and restored the Karoo Art Hotel.
Today, however, this long-serving member of the community is in urgent need of assistance as he battles cancer. His medical bills have escalated to the point where neither he nor his family can keep up.
To help alleviate the financial burden, Derek’s brother Patrick has launched a BackaBuddy campaign to raise funds for his treatment.
