Authorities confirm culprits could face three year prison sentence if found guilty

Members of the Barrydale community has come to the aid of a fellow resident in his quest to identify the individuals who, on July 5, slashed all four tyres of his vehicle.

While an investigation by Barrydale SAPS provided no indication as to who could have committed this heinous act, one of the perpetrators has since (on multiple occasions) blabbered out the truth at one of the local watering holes.

The man in question confessed to committing this act within earshot of several residents and News62 can report that two individuals have confirmed that they would testify in court once this matter is heard.

During the course of our investigation a local Magistrate confirmed that she had recently sentenced a Cape Town man to three years in prison for a similar crime.

“It is a huge relief to know with certainty who did this and I can’t thank the good honest people of this town enough for speaking up,” said the vehicle owner.

“At the time this incident happened I was looking after a friend who was given less than a month to live and this entire ordeal just compounded the stress I was subjected to.”

“I trust that justice will be served and that these men will be removed from society.”
