Barrydale Town Manager Wilma Karsten and Barrydale Democratic Alliance Chairman Charles Payne have resigned from their respective positions.
Karsten has reportedly been offered a lucrative position at a Swellendam-based company. It will be interesting to see who will replace both Karsten and Payne as community leaders in the village.
It remains unclear whether Payne has merely stepped down from his local leadership role or whether he has also resigned as a DA member.
Attempts to contact Payne or Swellendam Mayor Francois du Rand for comment were not successful.
