ASHTON – It took nearly a decade but justice finally caught up with two crooked traffic officers and their civilian accomplice.
Karel Davids (53) and Andile James Dondolo (57), both traffic officers at the Ashton Traffic Department, along with civilian Jason Naidoo (59), were convicted of corruption in the Cape Town Regional Court on July 7.

The scandal dates back to 2016 when tip-offs revealed that Davids and Dondolo were dishing out fake learner’s licences like sweets, at a price of course. The Hawks swooped in, nailed the guilty trio and arrested them in August 2016.
“When the trial commenced in September 2019, the three accused were out on bail,” SAPS said in a statement.
“The judgment was eventually handed down on July 7 and they were convicted. Their bail was also withdrawn and were remanded in custody until their sentencing which will be handed down on August 29
The trio will learn their fate when sentencing is handed down on 29 August 2025.
