Swellendam’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is investigating a sexual assault case after an alleged incident in Railton this week.
According to Sergeant Christopher Spies, Southern Cape Police Spokesperson, an 18-year-old woman was at home on November 4 when a man arrived and allegedly sexually violated her. She managed to escape and alerted authorities.
Police swiftly arrested a 25-year-old suspect in connection with the case. He remains in custody and was due to appear in the Barrydale Magistrate’s Court on November 6.
The investigation is ongoing.
