Backing Bright Haven Has Never Been Easier

Written by Mickey Mentz

Bright Haven Barrydale has called on the community to help support some of the village’s most vulnerable children through monthly giving.

With a steady contribution this small but mighty organisation plans, grow and continue to change lives every single day.

Based at BF Oosthuizen Primary School in Tinley Street, Bright Haven currently teaches and supports neurodiverse children in a dedicated class at the school, with a second class scheduled to open in 2026.

The organisation also feeds between 800 and 1 200 vulnerable children every month to support brain development and basic nourishment in Barrydale.

Bright Haven further serves as a reporting hub for any concerns regarding a Child at Risk through their Children @ Heart desk.

Bright Haven braced for a better future

According to Louise Pharo, founder m ember & director, the team is investing in a future Skills Development Centre for neurodiverse young adults to equip them with real, employable skills right here in the village.

Future training streams include barista work, cooking, serving, retail assistance, farm skills and more. This will be done to ensure that neurodiverse young adults can find their place in the Barrydale labour ecosystem rather than being left behind.

Why monthly support matters

Bright Haven says a predictable monthly income allows them to:

  • plan with confidence
  • act faster when need arises
  • expand programs sustainably
  • and remain ready when urgent situations appear

Small amounts collected consistently become life-changing impact over time.
