Four Arrested in Swellendam Immigration Crackdown

Written by Mickey Mentz

Swellendam police arrested four undocumented foreign nationals during ongoing Operation Shanela II activities on October 21.

According to reports, officers were conducting routine patrols when they stopped a vehicle with four occupants. A search of the vehicle revealed no illegal items, but the individuals were unable to produce valid identity documents.

The suspects, aged 21, 23, 28 and 35, were taken into custody and are facing charges under the Immigration Act. They appeared in court earlier this week.

“Visible policing operations like these form part of our continued effort to enhance safety and enforce the law in our communities,” said Sergeant Christopher Spies, Police Media Liaison Officer.
