Nearly a week after the fact, Barrydale SAPS confirmed that the body of a 37-year-old Barrydale man was found in a field after a person alerted the police about the incident.
The body of the victim, a street dweller who was affectionately known as Joost, was found on November 2.
“On arrival the Police found the adult male in a pool of water where he was lying on his back with only his face outside the water. He sustained multiple stab wounds to his body,” SAPS Provincial Corporate Communication and Liaison Officer Malcolm Pojie said in a statement.
He added that EMS (emergency services) was contacted whom declared the deceased dead on the scene.
“Subsequently a murder docket was open and a 35-year-old female was later arrested in connection with his murder.”
The suspect appear in court at Barrydale on November 4. The case was postponed until December 9 (Tuesday) 2021 for a bail application hearing.
The accused remains in custody at Worcester Prison, Pojie concluded.
