Swellendam Arson: SAPS Detectives on the case

Swellendam – The South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed that they are investigating a case of attempted arson following an incident that occurred late on Sunday, August 3, at Stasie Street.

“According to initial reports, the victim was awoken at approximately 23:00 by an alarm. Upon investigation, he noticed flames and acted swiftly to extinguish the fire before it could spread further. The incident was later reported to the relevant authorities,” SAPS media liaison Sergeant Christopher Spies said in a statement.

He confirmed that Swellendam Detectives had since opened a docket and that they are actively investigating the matter as attempted arson.

“No arrests have been made at this stage, and the suspects remain at large,” said Spies

Police have appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone with information that could aid the investigation is urged to contact the Swellendam Detectives on 028 514 8362 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
