An all Community Intervention Centre (CIC) opened its doors at Barrydale Police Station this month.

The CIC provides counselling resources to the community at no charge with the hope of assisting improving the emotional and psychological well-being of people in crisis.

CIC Manager Daphne explained the role that the CIC plays in the communities in which they operate to the attending community leaders and guests.
“We had a wonderful time meeting members of the local community and distributing Power 2 You packs provided by the Kolisi Foundation,” she said.
She confirmed that Desiree, who was previously a CIC supervisor, will be leading their trauma support services in Barrydale.

More about CIC
Established in May 2001, the Community Intervention Centre (CIC) is a level 1 BBBEE non-profit and non-governmental organisation that provides a FREE 24 – hour on-site trauma intervention and support service to communities.
CIC works in full cooperation with the South African Police Service (SAPS) and local hospitals. Their office is based at Tableview SAPS, but we also operate on-site or at the other local SAPS Victim Support centres in the Milnerton Police precinct.
Several satellite centres have also been opened and in this regard Barrydale is the first in the Klein Karoo.
