With less than a month to go before the first annual Barrydale Analog Photographic Festival, organiser Graham Abbott has become an even more excited paparazzo than he usually is.
The reason for this is that two icons of the industry have confirmed that they will join Rodger Bosh, Tim Hopwood, Sean Wilson, Jonothan Rees, Simon O’Callaghan and local legends Herman van Wyk and Ryno Reyneke in displaying their work at the Karoo Art Hotel.
News62 is not at liberty to disclose the names of the these additional maestros just yet, but Graham has in the meantime taken stock of the quality of work that will be on display from December 11 to 19 and has noted that it will be of world class standard.
“So many great photographers have confirmed that they will be attending the festival and with that, many of their followers will be coming to town over that week,” said Graham.
While admitting that the inaugural festival could have done with some form of government sponsorship, Graham also understands that the proof of this photographic pudding will be in the eating.
“There is not an equivalent to this festival out there and we know that it will become a big drawing card for Barrydale and the region in years to come.

“For now, we will take it one analog print at a time and enjoy the camaraderie that is likely to flow like the lovely wines we enjoy at Joubert-Tradauw every other weekend.
