Barrydale’s first official Parkrun will take place on February 3 with the 5km event set to start at 8am at the Karoo Art Hotel.
Parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.

Parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along.
According to event organiser Lizza Littlewort, the main reason for the parkrun is to unite and lift our spirits of humanity.
Other positives of hosting a parkrun in Barrydale is that opportunities like first aid training will be arranged in time.
“It’s also a great way to meet others and do exercises together,” said Littlewort.
There are currently 217 parkrun events around the country taking place every Saturday.
Parkrun is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk.
