Community mourns beloved health practitioner

Dr Jacques du Toit, medical manager for Swellendam and Cape Agulhas subdistricts, confirmed in a statement that beloved Barrydale Doctor, Cornelius Miles had passed away last week.

While the circumstances around his death are not yet known, Du Toit confirmed that Dr Miles spent his last days in Pretoria.

“Doc Miles and his parents were to move back to Pretoria in the very near future, hoping to turn a new chapter, continuing his great work and relationships he had with people that become his beloved patients,” said Dr Du Toit.

We will remember Doc Miles as a person who cared a lot for things he believed was right as well as for his parents and patients.

Du Toit said that the passing of Dr Miles leaves a substantial gap in many people’s lives.

“I respected him as a caring person and will especially remember his strong opinions while we worked as colleagues over the past years.”

Du Toit expressed his condolences to Doc Miles’s parents Chris and Mariana Miles.

“Although their walking with their beloved son on earth may have suddenly ended, my wish for them is that their walk with him will continue in a new chapter with good and loving memories about their son, Cornelius.

“It takes time to close out a lifetime of experiences when a loved one passes on, and this is the time you are bestowed to reflect and kindle your memories of him.”

Cornelius will lovingly be remembered as “Doc Miles” by his patients, wherever he touched and cared for their lives.

“May Doc Miles rest in peace with loving and caring memories that he left behind, for his colleagues, parents, friends and patients.”
