In what should be a first of many soulful breakaways Barrydale yogis Francois and Elizabeth Beer of Lotus Production Management hosted an exceptional yoga retreat at Red Mountain Ridge near Calitzdorp.
Red Mountain Ridge is fast gaining popularity for the tranquility it provides its guests and it is interesting to note that most visitors who stay at this picturesque venue, leave feeling revitalised beyond their wildest dreams – hosting a yoga weekend in the presence of the inspirational mountains therefore made perfect sense.

It was the first time since the onset of the pandemic and the first time that Red Mountain Ridge hosted a healing yoga retreat beneath the majestic mountains deep within the Klein Karoo.
Hosts Francois Beer and Elizabeth Beer ensured that this would be a truly inspirational event for all involved by including a healing gong sound therapy session by Swellendam’s Kundalini Yoga teacher, Susan Rossetto.
“Yoga has always been a healing therapy, the true essence of yoga is to
unite, body, soul and mind,” Francois highlighted.
Experienced yogis as well as students new to the practice came together for this three day and two night experience of healing, relaxation and rejuvenation – all set at the incredibly beautiful Red Mountain.

Prior to the havoc that was caused by the outbreak of Covid-19, Elizabeth and Francois were teaching yoga and mindfulness in Western Cape schools prior to the pandemic and Francois, who facilitated all the yoga sessions at the retreat, has since become a regular yoga teacher in Swellendam and Barrydale with many locals simply adoring his weekly classes.
Sharing a space with Susan proved to be a master stroke
Dating back to ancient times, Gong Sound Therapy is an energy medicine which uses sound waves to improve health and well being. It is a “wholing” process, helping you make your mind, body and spirit whole again. It improves many conditions, as well as being wonderful for relaxation.

“Yoga can bring us back to our natural state of being that is peaceful, ever joyful and full of love for oneself and the world around us,” said Elizabeth.
Francois added that yoga is not just about touching your toes.
He said that it is a complete and holistic science that teaches us how to keep our body healthy, manage our mind and emotions, deal with stressful situations, maintain our equanimity amidst activity, and experience our true nature.

“It is about realising that you are perfect the way you are, about feeling at home wherever you go, and living life as an expression of happiness, not a pursuit of it.” he added.
Lotus Production Management looks forward to hosting a New Year’s eve healing retreat. Booking will, however, be essential for this unique experience. For more information phone 076 513 3050.
