Zalda is cooking up a storm at her new Indian restaurant

The family started this venture as a tribute to their late son Lloyd and the subsequent flavours that are transmitted from this Indian restaurant daily are testament of just how much the 37-year-old chef from Mosselbay, who tragically passed away last year, was loved.

Located approximately 20km South of Barrydale, Lloyd’s on Route 62 opened its doors just two months ago and has quickly captured the imagination of locals and travellers alike.

Here some of the most divine Indian dishes in the area are served in a relaxed, homely setting that was created by Lloyd’s mother Zalda and her business partner Jenny.

“I started this restaurant with my business partner Jenny as a tribute to my son and we hope that we capture his friendly nature and his passion for food in every dish we serve,” Zalda said.

Lloyd’s on Route 62 traditional Indian cuisine is served from 9am to 6pm every day of the week and on Sundays guests are greeted with a buffet fit for a king.

Dinner reservations need to be made in advance and at this stage guests who would like to enjoy a glass of wine with their meals are encouraged to bring their own as they are still in the process of obtaining their liquor license.

So, whether it is a world class Chicken Biryani, Mutton Curry or Butter Chicken you can rest assured that Lloyd’s on Route 62 has your taste buds covered.

They also serve delicious Roti’s and Kebabs while vegan/vegetarian options include a Butternut Curry, Red Lentil Curry and a Sugar Bean Curry – all cooked to perfection.

Yes, you can taste the motherly love in their dishes and as the News62 team soon realised, you will most likely have to travel to Durban or Delhi to find a Mutton Curry Bunnychow that compares to those Zalda and Jenny prepare.

With the addition of a child friendly outdoor dining area, Lloyd’s on Route 62 also made a concerted effort to ensure that families can fully enjoy this culinary experience.

The establishment is also dog friendly so this can be an ideal stop where your pooches can stretch their legs while you enjoy a delicious bite.

All of this on the world famous Route 62. Spectacular views of the Langeberg Mountain range are included free of charge with every meal at this Indian Restaurant.
