Swellendam Municipality has received a clean audit outcome from the Auditor-General for the 2024/2025 financial year, marking the eighth clean audit the municipality has achieved in the past ten years.

According to the municipality, a clean audit confirms that its financial statements are free from material misstatements and that there were no significant findings related to performance reporting or non-compliance with legislation.
The clean audit outcome follows a review of the municipality’s financial management, governance processes and internal control systems for the period under review.
Executive Mayor Francois du Rand said the outcome reflects consistent effort within the administration.

“A clean audit is the result of disciplined financial management, effective internal controls and a strong commitment to compliance throughout the organisation,” Du Rand said.
He also acknowledged the role of municipal officials in achieving the result.
“This outcome reflects the dedication of the Municipal Manager, the Chief Financial Officer, the senior management team and all municipal officials who work daily to ensure accountability and proper use of public funds,” he said.
Du Rand that the clean audit supports ongoing institutional stability and provides a sound basis for planning and service delivery in the new financial year.
He confirmed that it will continue to implement measures aimed at maintaining strong governance, improving operational efficiency and ensuring sustainable service delivery to residents.
