The monthly Mez Morning Market has become synonymous with great food, great local produce and of course it is a great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to network in a safe, serene outdoor setting.
This quant village market is the brainchild of the industrious Doris Nadler who joined forces with Michelle Berry of Mez Karoo Kitchen and her son Kyle who are considered bastions of the food service industry in Barrydale.
At Mez Karoo Kitchen exquisite Mediterranean meals are served on most evenings and on weekends while they also stock several local outlets with their delicious oven ready meals.
While some established brands like Mojoe Coffee Roasters, Bake Haven, All About Sheep, The Farm Deli and Doris Day Deli are always at hand with their excellent produce, the Mez Market has become an ideal setting for for many local artisans and new small businesses to showcase their products.
One such example is Kaashaas home made cheese straws that is produced by new Barrydale resident Magriet van Zyl. From attending many small markets like this one, Van Zyl’s mouth watering straws can now be found in some of the most pristine outlets on the Garden Route.
Equally Shivas Products have always been a prominent stall at this and who can resist Joke’s delicious cakes or Carmel’s homegrown home made treats. Carin Oberholzer also started baking her delicious farm breads to complement an impeccable selection of local produce.
The ladies from Hearts on Main and Timeless Vintage clothing provide new flair with their stylish wear and absolute highlight at the June edition of this market was the Mez Gluhwein which kept bodies warm from the Karoo cold.
The next Mez Morning Market is set to take place on July 3, weather permitting.
