Good news for the win as 2020 is named the year of the piesang

A wrap of the year that has been

The jury might still be out, but all indications are that 2020 should in many regards be remembered as the year of the banana.

Not only was it the year in which South Africa finally fully claimed its status as a banana republic, but this last trip around the sun resulted in more home made breads (often of the banana variety) being baked on a global scale.

We do need to remember that 2020 was also like the last banana in the bowl – not all bad.

Ja die wêreld het behoorlik op ‘n piesangskil gegly, maar as ons eerlik is, was die skrif reeds lank voor die Coronavirus sy kop uitgesteek het, aan die muur.

Die mens het die planeet op verskeie maniere verwoes en iewers moes iets gebeur het om die balans te herstel.

The community of Barrydale created something spectacular this year.

Vir die eerste keer in jare was die grense tussen ryk en arm verbreek toe Barrydale Fight Night plaasgevind het.

And the Barrydale Eco-Warriors confirmed that they will continue fight for Mother Nature.

We ended the year with a photographic festival of international acclaim

In short, 2020 was not all bad.
